Set Up A Narrow Bedroom? These 9 Tips Will Help

Even in a hose room you can sleep comfortably. A trick is to emphasize the front.
For the bedroom often remains only the smallest room left. And that although bed and wardrobes are space-consuming furniture. If the room is not only small, but also narrow, the furnishings must be well thought out. Whether a room divider, hanging bedside tables or an accentuated front page - we show you 9 examples of how to make the most of a long, narrow bedroom.
1. Make the bed wisely
The room form usually already provides the possibility to adjust the bed. So that it is not only accessible from one side, the front of the room is often recommended as the headboard for a double bed - leaving about 50 to 60 centimeters on each side, both partners can comfortably reach their sides and set up a bedside table.
Emphasize the front page in the narrow bedroom quiet optically - for example, by a striking wallpaper or a great bed head (see also Tip 9).
On the other hand, it is best to place single beds directly on the long side of the wall or in a corner. So there is enough walking and parking space in the room. In this way it is very comfortable sleeping in an apartment in Gothenburg, while the window remains freely accessible.
2. Think Smaller
As great as the idea of a king size bed is - in a tubing room where a bed can quickly take up the entire width of the room, if possible, you should choose a narrower model so that to the left and right of the Bed enough space remains.
However, if you do not want to give up your generous mattress surface, you can consciously set up a wide bed and make it the dominant room element. There are clever alternatives for bedside tables (see tip 7). However, you may have to arrange for morning climbing.
3. Build up
A narrow space also means less floor space for storage space solutions. A pedestal at the end of the room creates more space here - and also takes away the depth effect of the hose room. While you can get a breath of fresh air at the top, you'll make room for things that would otherwise require a bulky cabinet.
4. Divide the narrow bedroom
A good idea is to visually compress narrow bedrooms. A room divider shelf or a partially protruding cabinet create different functional areas. In the separated area you should provide sufficient light through a window or artificial lighting.
Experts Sabine Merz from Possibilities - the Wohnwerkstatt advises in the case of narrow bedrooms for zoning, for example in a dressing area and a sleeping area. In a post on the Houzz community , she says, "However, this requires good lighting in the front of the room to find the clothes."
5. Position the wardrobe smartly
Ideal is to place the wardrobe on the short side of the room. Thus, the space does not become even narrower through him. In this Munich bedroom, the entire wall surface around the door has been fitted with custom fitted wardrobes. Thanks to uniform fronts, the interior designers from Bespoke bring a sense of calm to the room, and the "hidden" wardrobe does not look overwhelming.
Another idea is to use the cabinet as a room divider and possibly even make a small dressing area over corner.
If the conditions do not allow such solutions and the wardrobe can only be placed on the long side of the room, you should pay attention to a small depth. In this Swedish apartment shelves were simply stacked in a niche. The curtain brings order into the room and consumes, unlike revolving doors, hardly any space. Alternatively, sliding doors are usually recommended for narrow bedrooms.
6. Use the wall surface in the narrow bedroom.
Bedside reading, accessories and Co. also require a storage space in a narrow bedroom. Instead of being stored on a classic bedside table, the objects can be optimally stored on shelves at the short end above the bed headboard.
7. Make the bedside table smaller
Put away the glasses and switch off the reading light - this also works without a proper bedside table. If the space for the side furniture is missing left and right, you can create a substitute with creative ideas. Small shelves, for example, can still be fixed to the wall despite having a wide bed and at least carry the most important items.
The bedside lamp wanders in a narrow bedroom best on the wall instead of standing on the table. How chic this can look, shows this bedroom. Here are the black lights next to other dark Dekodetails an eye catcher.
Instead of wall lights you can save space in the narrow bedroom by low-hanging pendant lights.
8. Optically stretch the narrow bedroom.
Optical tricks are helpful in narrow bedrooms, at least visually harmonizing the spatial form. The transverse wood paneling on the short side makes the room look wider, while the star wallpaper tends to upset the walls on the long sides. White as the basic color brightens and expands the space overall.
9. Put the front side into scene
Emphasize the front side - that is the magic word to take the tube shape of the room. If the bed is upside down on this wall, a pretty patterned wallpaper looks just like an oversized bed head and sets a pretty accent.
Even in this narrow bedroom, the focus was placed on the front page. A padded headboard, a mirrored wall over it and chic bedside lamps attract the eye, while on the long side walls an emphasis on decoration was omitted.
